Join Date:  2019-05-16

PIworld, the US printing industry portal, released the printing industry overview forecast for “2018-2019 Print Demand Hot Markets”. The research project identified the demand for printed products in 2018-2019 by counting, correlating and summarizing various resources and information. The top 25 industries.

Among the 25 industries (markets), the top three printing needs are: food packaging printing, medical/pharmaceutical and publishing. The demand for food packaging and printing ranked first, and the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical packaging remained the second. The traditional print-centric publishing/non-newspaper industry jumped from fifth place in 2017 to third place.

At first glance, this seems to be a bit against the trend of social development, especially considering that in recent years, people have been pessimistic about paper media, and that traditional printing products are already dead end. However, this does not take into account the surge in demand for short-term, special interest, and personalized printed publications.

Therefore, the book publishing market has also proved to be flexible, and e-books have not completely replaced traditional printed books. Markets such as on-demand publishing, self-publishing, and personalized content customization are rapidly emerging.

Bank/insurance fell from third place in 2017 to fifth place in 2018. Commercial banks are being threatened by the potential rise of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. This year, the insurance/property/accident industry suffered from a number of claims for hurricanes and major forest fires.

In the top 25 hot markets of last year, the federal/state government predicted that printing demand would be reduced by 8% due to reduced spending. Despite the substantial increase in the federal budget in 2018. Mallardi pointed out that printing opportunities still exist in politically beneficial institutions such as the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. In contrast, the demand associated with the United Nations, public broadcasting, and educational programs sponsored by NASA and the Department of Agriculture will diminish. In terms of energy, this year has not broken the top 25 again, and printing demand is expected to fall further by 15%.

All in all, in the 2018-2019, in the printing industry, the highly targeted sales of professional printing equipment knowledge about how to service, solve problems and fully understand the pain points of the industry has become more critical than ever. This may require a reassessment of existing printing machinery salespeople, perhaps replacing the GM with more specialized and experienced sales representatives, thereby providing print companies with more subtle expertise, professional printing equipment and personality. Service.
